Who is Chris Rieger?

Formal Education

I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 2018 with a B.A. in Film & Media Studies and minors in Marketing & Photography.

Real Education

I interned at the TV/Commercial Production studio - Coolfire Studios - in 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri. I learned how to safely position a c-stand, that p-tap = d-tap, and that “silks” and “flags” are not just garment material and countries’ banners. I shot on their Canon C300s & freelanced with Coolfire Studios as a Camera Op & 2nd AC post-internship. I caught the film bug and have been freelancing around the US ever since!

What I’m up to now

I freelance in Los Angeles, CA as a Director of Photography, Camera Op, AC, Gaffer, Key Grip, PA, Editor, you name it. From Nov. 2021 - Nov. 2022, I was employed at LiveControl.io as their Production & Logistics Coordinator. At LiveControl.io, I managed all hardware & shipping, and researched the latest workflows in the live streaming industry.

Before that, I freelanced for a medical education company, Thumbroll LLC, as the Director of Media Production from 2018-2020. We created photo-timelapse tutorials for medical procedures, and I helped run any media (photo/videos shoots, social media, website graphics, flyers, etc). I also have shot for The Associated Press (AP), Agence France-Presse (AFP), and Forbes.

My style lends itself more to a more documentary side of film. As I explore the narrative world, I’m working on a few comedy short films & music videos.
